23 & 45

I’m a little late in the game, no pun intended, because I haven’t been watching a lot of T.V. lately. Last night, though, I started the series on Netflix entitled The Last Dance, a recount of Michael Jordan’s career and the ups and downs of the Chicago Bulls dynasty in the 90s.

If you are looking for a great series to watch this is it! I am only on the 3rd episode and it is so good!

You don’t have to be a huge basketball fan to love the series. I’m a huge ice hockey fan myself, but I love to shoot hoops and watch college basketball especially.

All sports are about perseverance, teamwork, overcoming obstacles, never giving up and the extreme desire to always win, something Jordan definitely had.

As a sports communications major, I love learning about athletes and the obstacles they have overcome or even just what made them who they are and what led to their success in their respective sport.

For example, I had no idea that he did not make his Varsity high school basketball team sophomore year. Often the biggest successes have overcome some obstacle, which fuels their fire to make them great.

One his favorite quotes I love is: “ I can accept failure. Everyone fails at something. But, I can’t accept not trying.”

It is so true. Sometimes failure at something will happen. It’s life. Not everything will be a success no matter how much you want something. By not trying though and not giving something your all, there is no way of ever knowing if success might have been just around the corner.

I’m continuing the series tonight. In the meantime have to start studying, but maybe first I’ll shoot a hoop or two.
