After an unprecedented year that affected the sports world, we are only ten days out from the summer Olympics in Tokyo. I love all sports, but the best weekends are the ones when swimming, golfing, and running are all broadcast on T.V.! From the Olympic Trials in swimming in Omaha, to the Olympic Trials for Track & Field in the beautiful new Hayward Field facility in Eugene to the Men's U.S. Golf Open at Torrey Pines, I will be front and center watching my HULU over the next few days. I can't wait to watch the broadcasts of all of my favorite sports!
As I write this blog, Bobby Finke and Michael Brinegar head to Tokyo in the 800 Free! The most exciting race however just happened, the Men's 200 breast with young Nic Fink and Andrew Wilson going to Tokyo! Tonight's other events features the women's 200 butterfly final, and the men's 100 free final. An impressive night lies ahead with one of my favorites Caleb Dressel in the 100 free. And it will become a fight for the spots for Team USA between Michael Andrew, Ryan Lochte and my old teammate Chase Kalisz in the 200m IM. These swimmers have spent their whole lives dreaming, training, and believing. Who will punch their ticket to Tokyo tonight and fulfill that lifetime dream?
Going into tomorrow, the standings for the Men's U.S. Open are Russell Henley leading 4 under par and Francesco Molinari tied with Rafa Cabrera Bello right behind him 3 under par. However, it is a long weekend ahead on an absolutely beautiful, but challenging course. The 14th hole is known as one of the toughest hole in the PGA. Who will win the coveted title on Sunday?
The Olympic Trials for Track & Field begin tomorrow. Hayward Field was just redone and is absolutely beautiful. From the 100m hurdles to the 400m to the 3,000 steeplechase, triple jump, and of course my favorites the 1,500 and 5,000 meter finals on Monday night, it is going to be an incredibly fast weekend as these athletes run for gold and the opportunity to represent Team USA. Watch out or you will miss them in a blink of an eye!
